JSE-listed energy and chemicals group Sasol has, in collaboration with its public-sector and academic partners, commissioned a 2 kW proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyser system at the company’s Research and Technology campus, in Sasolburg, in the Free State. Over and above Sasol’s contribution, the electrolyser was developed with contributions from the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation’s (DSTI’s) Hydrogen South Africa (HySA) programme in partnership with the South African National Energy Development Institute (SANEDI) and the North-West University.
